Donations
Generosity brings happiness at every stage of its' expression.
We experience joy in forming the intention to be generous.
We experience joy in the actual act of giving something.
And we experience joy in remembering the fact that we have given.
-The Buddha
In the Buddhist tradition, the teachings are considered so precious as to be priceless. Thus they are given freely, with the opportunity to offer voluntary donations, or dana. Dana is the ancient Pali word for "spontaneous generosity of the heart."
Dana both supports IMCW and plays a central role in the spiritual life of a dharma practitioner. Generosity is the first of the ten paramis, or qualities of character, to be perfected in spiritual life. The very act of giving benefits the person who gives, for it opens the heart, lessens self-absorption, and serves the well being of others. Simply offering a small favor, a kind thought, a meal, or a flower may be a sincere form of spiritual practice.
